Dr. Yoshinori Shirakata is an associate professor at Kagoshima University in Japan and previously served as a visiting scholar in the department of Periodontology, Bern University where he met Dr. Miron. His main research involves animal research evaluating periodontal regeneration using a variety of growth factors. Both he and Dr. Miron are presently investigating the use of Osteogain in combination with various biomaterials for periodontal regeneration in large animal models including monkeys with Dr. Miron. Furthermore, he collaborates on a number of projects both in vitro and in vivo on the use of bone morphogenetic protein 9 along with Dr. Toshiaki Nakamura also from Kagoshima University.
