Dieter Bosshardt

Dr. Dieter Bosshardt is head of the Robert K. Schenk Laboratory of Oral Histology at the School of Dental Medicine, University of Bern. His main scientific interests are tooth development, in particular cementogenesis, periodontal tissue regeneration, and healing events associated with dental implants and other biomaterials. From 2009 to 2012, Dr. Bosshardt served as the primary scientific mentor for Dr. Miron and they have since collaborated on numerous projects. Recently, their work on the importance of macrophages around bone biomaterials and makes up the primary focus of their collaboration. Dr. Bosshardt has authored and co-authored more than 150 original articles, review articles, case reports, and book chapters. He is considered one of the top oral histologists internationally. He is also a member of  the International Team for Implantology (ITI) and the Osteology Research Academy (ORA).
